About SCRA

South Calgary Ringette Association is proud to represent approximately 400 young athletes aged 5 to 18 taking part in the fastest game on ice!

Our registration area includes communities in the southwest quadrant of the city. See the registration map on Ringette Calgary’s website for more info.

SCRA teams play in the Ringette Calgary league. Our season runs September to March, with registration typically in June to July 31.

Depending on the age group, players can expect 2 or more ice times per week. Practices and games are on a non-fixed schedule and operate at a variety of arena locations in the city.

What is the history of SCRA?

  • Check out the Ringette Calgary website for history of the sport in Calgary and Alberta. https://history.ringettecalgary.ca/
  • The first mention of “South Calgary” as an association is found in the 1986/87 season.
  • In the 2002/03 season, the combined group of “Southview” was formed to ensure viable teams for South Calgary and Bowview players in Junior and Belle divisions (U16 and U19); and then it was disbanded in 2012/13 when both associations returned to hosting their own teams again.
  • In the 2010/11 season, division names were changed from the former usage of Bunnies (U7), Novice (U10), Petite (U12), Tween (U14), Junior (U16) and Belle (U19).
  • In the 2019/20 season, the “Children’s Ringette” program for AS-U12 was introduced for all associations in Alberta. This included a transition to cross-ice format for AS and half-ice format for U10S1 and U10S2.
